I have struggled with the violence, hatred and pain, and the terrible gunfights in Atlanta in March struck me particularly close to my home as it was only a mile from where I used to live. Some days it's hard to see if we're ever really seen as part of this land. Take Daniel Dae Kim's testimony before Congress, where he told a story about a pollster who claimed that AAPI voters were not counted "because Asian Americans are considered statistically insignificant". For too long we have been deposed as an invisible minority, which in short, as Kim put it bluntly, means "we don't matter."
