I just got my hands on Kinsta and I love it. The ambience of the MyKinsta dashboard, the feeling of site security, and ubiquitous support people (they're always there!) That you can trust your business to be worth trying. Not to mention the speed that I never thought was possible.
I've had a fair share of good and terrible hosts, but at this point my business fully deserves Kinsta. Check out why you need them too below.

Choosing where to host your website is one of the most important decisions you will make.
Hosting is the engine of your website – and you wouldn't spend all of your time and effort restoring a car just to put in a tiny, low-power engine, would you?
No – you want to choose a host that will give your amazing website the foundation it deserves.
If your website is slowly gaining traction and you need great performance to keep it running smoothly, Kinsta might be that host.
In addition to some of the best performances you can find in a managed WordPress host (like Flywheel), Kinsta also has a great, feature-packed dashboard to make managing your website easy.
In my Kinsta hosting review, I will do three things:
- Show you real performance data from my test page
- Share 10 specific Kinsta hosting features you are going to love (many of which you don't get with most other hosts).
- Discuss if Kinsta Hosting is the right host for you
Kinsta Hosting Review 2021: What You Are Getting For Your Money
Kinsta is high performance managed WordPress hosting. That is what it means:
- Your website loads very quickly (I'll show you the data in a second).
- Provides you with features that make managing your site easier, such as: E.g. a dashboard where you can create staging sites, set up redirects and much more.
- Helps you with basic maintenance such as updates and automatic daily backups.
In addition to these key benefits, Kinsta is also built on the premium tier plan from Google Cloud Infrastructure. Yes, Your website runs with the same technology that Google uses for its own websites.
Thanks to that, you have a lot of control over where the main data center of your site is located Over 15 available Kinsta data centers.
Another great benefit of hosting your website with Kinsta isYou use the LXD container function (thanks to Google's cloud platform). This means that every site they host is isolated from every other site and has its own resources like NGINX, MySQL, PHP, etc.
This makes your site much faster (since you don't have to share resources with "n" number of sites and it keeps it more secure (since infected sites cannot contaminate your LXD container).
I don't want to bore you by just repeating the list of features available on the Kinsta homepage. So let's run some real performance tests and then pick out a few other things that I think Kinsta does well.
Kinsta performance test (spoiler – it loads quickly)
Kinsta uses a performance-optimized technology stack, including:
- Caching at server level (no caching plug-in required!)
- PHP 7.2
- The LXD Containers 9each website has its own resources. PHP, MySQL, etc.)
If you're a developer, you probably nod your head at this list.
But if you're a blogger, you probably won't care about these fancy terms unless they are Actually translate to make your website faster.
Let's find out …
I set up a test site at Kinsta with an Astra theme starter site (a theme we recommend to bloggers). I did this to make sure it had all of the functionality you can find on a real world website.
Here's how it worked when I went through a series of performance tests:
When I ran it through Pingdom, my test page loaded quickly 681 ms. According to Pingdom, that's faster than 94% of the websites::
Let's try a few other tools to see if Kinsta is consistent.
When running through WebPagetest, my test page loaded similarly quickly 1.291s. That is a great time for this tool (it is expected that WebPagetest should be a bit slower as the test works compared to Pingdom):
Finally, I wanted to see if Kinsta could still deliver fast load times also when receiving traffic. That said, if your website receives thousands of visits every day, can Kinsta load quickly for each and every visitor?
To test this, I used Load Impact to simulate the browsing of 50 visitors at the same time (from 1 visitor to 50 visitors within 5 minutes):
This graphic essentially shows that the loading times of my test site remained unchanged with an increasing number of active visitors (blue line) between 50 ms and 70 ms (green line).
This is a great thing!
This means that for the fiftieth visitor your website loads just as quickly as it does for the first visitor.
Another case study showing why Kinsta is the middle name for website speed comes from SkyrocketWP. They came to Kinsta in search of speed and were so impressed they migrated 100+ websites from WP Engine to Kinsta.
Kinsta Features Review: 10 More Things You'll Love About Kinsta Hosting
In addition to performance, Kinsta hosting has many more features that will make managing your website easier.
1. MyKinsta: A great custom dashboard for easy management
If you've used a cheap shared host before, you've probably used cPanel to manage your website and server. cPanel is functional, but not particularly easy to use.
Kinsta does Not Use cPanel and instead opt for your own custom dashboard called "MyKinsta" which is guaranteed to find a much better use with it.
This is what the main dashboard looks like:
The following sections provide a number of examples of how this custom dashboard can help you manage your website more easily.
In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, MyKinsta has many other perks that you don't get with hosts using traditional cPanels or Plesk.
MyKinsta vs Traditional cPanels:
While MyKinsta has everything that comes with traditional cPanels, MyKinsta gives you direct access to the Site Migration Assistant. You can monitor site performance, bring staging sites to life, and deploy the search and replace tool right from the dashboard.
This is very handy in my opinion and gives you full control of your website (if you want to end up managing).
MyKinsta vs. Plesk:
Plesk does almost everything MyKinsta does, but MyKinsta outperforms Plesk by helping you enable SSL with a single click and has a search and replace tool that Plesk lacks.
2. Automatic backups for more security
If you care about your site, it is imperative to make regular backups. However, it can be difficult to force yourself to remember to secure your website.
That's why I love this Kinsta Automatically backs up your website for you every day.
You can view a list of all of these backups right on your dashboard. In addition to daily backups, there are two other times Kinsta backs up your site:
- You can manually start a backup from the website Manual tab
- Kinsta automatically backs up your site every time you move Staging → Live by doing System generated Tab (more about the staging in a second)
You can use this for any backup Kinsta stores Restore Click the button to either restore the backup to your computer dwell Website or Staging Page? ˅.
I've mentioned the staging twice now, so let's cover next time …
3. Simple staging site functionality to safely test changes
Staging sites are a powerful feature that allows you to safely test changes to your site on a private (but identical) copy of your site before broadcasting it live.
For example, You can test the functionality of a new plugin … or redesign a design … or a specific feature on your website that you want to test out on your staging site before actually moving the plugin to your live site.
It's really handy … and Kinsta makes it super easy to create a staging site.
Just use the Change environment Drop-down list:
The first time you do this, you can create a new staging environment. Once you're done with that, you'll see a duplicate of all of the dashboard options but for your staging environment.
You can play around with your staging site like you would a live site.
When you're ready to apply your changes live, you can move your staging site to the live version of your site with the push of a button:
As mentioned earlier – Kinsta will automatically back up your site whenever you move your staging site live. So if you want to undo your changes, all you have to do is restore the backup.
4. Free HTTPS for better security and user experience
Using HTTPS will make your website more secure for both you and your visitors. It is also a positive ranking signal. And oh yes, Google is about to start tagging all Non-HTTPS pages as Not sure in July 2018.
So you have to use HTTPS …However, setting up the SSL certificate you need to use HTTPS can be confusing.
Not so with Kinsta!
Kinsta doesn't just give you a free SSL certificateYou can also enable HTTPS directly from your Kinsta dashboard with a single click:
5. Free CDN for faster loading times for global sites
With a CDN you can accelerate the loading times of your website worldwide. Pretty much every other host will require you to pay for a separate CDN service to use alongside your hosting.
But Kinsta partnered with KeyCDN to bring you something free CDN Usage by default:
KeyCDN (which is used by Kinsta as its CDN service) has 25+ POPs. This means your content is cached and served from 25 locations around the world.
Faster website loading for visitors all over the world, protection from bad bots (and malware)
The exact amount of bandwidth you get depends on your plan.
But even the cheapest Kinsta plan includes 50 GB the CDN bandwidth per month, which is more than enough for most.
6. Built-in redirect tool for easy 301 redirects
If you've spent some time running a website, you probably had to use 301 redirects to maintain your website's SEO and make sure visitors were getting to the right place.
Typically, you'll need to either:
- Edit your site's .htaccess file directly (confusing and time consuming!)
- Use a plugin for redirects only (hello, dashboard clutter!)
Kinsta eliminates the need for either method with its built-in redirect tool.
You can set up and manage all types of redirects right from your Kinsta dashboard:
If you want to remove a redirect in the future, all you have to do is click a button:
7. In-dashboard analysis to monitor usage and performance
If you enjoy browsing data to optimize your website, you'll love Kinsta's in-dashboard analytics.
Basically, these analytics can help you keep track of your usage so you know where you stand in relation to the boundaries of your billing plan:
However, if you are a developer, you can use these statistics to go much deeper. For example, you can see your cache stats, your PHP and a lot more.
Right from the dashboard, you can …
- Change or switch PHP versions or restart
- Start New Relic Monitoring and more
If you're a casual user, you don't need to worry about anything I just said … but developers like this stuff!
8. Free premium DNS for faster page load times
DNS is like the Internet's phone book. This will connect your domain name to your web server.
Every time someone visits your website, that person's web browser has to query your DNS name servers to actually send the IP address to your server.
And that takes time.
If you're like most webmasters, you are likely using your host's DNS servers to point your domain name to your web server.
It's the easiest approach … but it's also pretty slow. Using a different DNS provider can speed up your site.
Example: look at the results of DNS performance. The fastest DNS provider is ~ 10 ms – the slowest is ~ 128 ms (and your host is probably even slower!). That's a big difference!
Kinsta helps your website load quickly by giving you free Premium DNS over Amazon Route 53. You don't get that with most hosts.
9. Kinsta Security Review: How Safe is Kinsta Hosting?
Here's how secure your website is with Kinsta:
Kinsta Hosting offers free SSL and free CDN that will keep you safe from security breaches. Additionally, the Kinsta team regularly monitors spikes, uptime, and security threats like DDoS attacks to keep your website safe.
They can help you block specific IP addresses that you want to block from accessing your site.
But what if your website is compromised anyway?
Websites can be compromised in many ways, such as: B. through password violations, faulty plugins / themes. Kinsta will help you in the following situations:
- Check the site and scan it thoroughly for any malware
- Repair the WordPress core by installing clean copies of the core files
- Identification and removal of infected themes / plugins
This is the maximum you can expect from your hosting provider.
And for me, it's more than I can ask based on the horrible and awful experience with Hostgator (instead of helping me upsell to buy a third-party service that would cost me over $ 500 to mine Clean up website).
Since each Kinsta hosted site has its own container, the remaining 49 remain infection free (even if you have 50 sites in your account) (Hostgator infected 3 of my sites from one infected site).
Not only that …
If you are safety conscious, you can find Kinsta Activity log Function very practical.
This will allow you to keep track of all the actions that have been taken on your hosting account to make sure everything is up to date:
This is especially useful when giving other people access to your hosting account.
Speaking of which It is also very easy to give access to other people – All you have to do is enter the email address to invite them:
10. Kinsta Support Review: Intercom for Better Live Chat Support
I don't like most hosts' live chat tools because:
- You have to open a separate window. And if you accidentally close this window, you will lose your chat.
- There is no easy way to access previous transcripts.
Kinsta avoids these problems by using Intercom for live support.
If you're not familiar with Intercom, it's the little floating icon in the bottom right of all of the screenshots I've taken.
If you ever need help, just click on it to open live chat:
What is great is this:
- You can navigate to other areas on your dashboard without losing the live chat window.
- All of your conversations are saved so that you can easily continue or access them at a later time.
Other than that, Kinsta's support team and customer service was unique and responsive.
They go out of their way to help you with anything you need and don't ask you to direct them to take steps. Just say what you want and they'll do it.
Here's what Brian Jackson has to say about his customer care with Kinsta (compared to WP Engine):
“When I migrated from WP Engine, I had to explain to the support agent how to remove my custom CNAME in MaxCDN. Why do I need to explain to WP Engine how to do their job? With Kinsta, you'll never get that. "
Now that you know how Kinsta can help you and your business grow (with no hassle) …
… let's see how you can make a website easily with Kinsta!

It's that easy to create a new WordPress site at Kinsta. The first time you log into your Kinsta dashboard, you will see a large window Now add your first site Button:

Kinsta Plans and Price Review: is Kinsta Worth the Money?
I like Kinsta's pricing plans. They have a clear pricing plan where you are charged a rounded price (e.g. $ 30, 50, not $ 29.99 or $ 49.99). With annual purchase, you get a 2 month discount on any plan you choose. You can easily expand or shrink or switch Kinsta plans.
Please note that multi-location support is associated with all plans except the lowest plan ($ 30 / pm). (You won't get it from most hosts either.)
Kinsta is the top performing WordPress hosting out there. The cheapest plan starts at $ 30 per month. It supports:
- 1 WordPress site
- 20,000 visits
- 3 GB storage space
- Free SSL and CDN
The prices go up from there depending on your needs:
Take this 1 thing into consideration before choosing Kinsta
As you can probably tell from the list above, I think Kinsta makes great WordPress hosting.
But I still don't think it's for everyone.
No – I don't think Kinsta is overpriced. If you compare it to other managed WordPress hosts, it's more than competitive.
I just don't think every single webmaster needs something as powerful as Kinsta. If you're just starting out or your website isn't getting a lot of traffic, Kinsta might be too much for your needs.
To get back to the auto metaphor from the intro, it would be like buying a Bugatti Veyron just to drive around the neighborhood at 25 km / h!
So if you have a growing website that requires fast performance, absolutely go with Kinsta.
However, if you're just starting out on your blog and aren't getting a lot of traffic, stick with something cheaper like SiteGround until your website gets popular.
You can then move it from Kinsta to Kinsta using the free site migrations.
Kinsta Hosting Review 2021: Should You Use Kinsta Hosting?
From a performance and functionality standpoint, Kinsta is the best WordPress host I've used. Just looking at it from that perspective, I have no hesitation in recommending Kinsta as one of the best WordPress hosts out there.
The only thing is the price. As mentioned above, Kinsta’s pricing is 100% fair and competitive. It is just overkill for your needs if you are just starting out with your website and are not getting a lot of traffic.
But what if you already have some traffic and need a powerful host that will make managing your website easy?
Yes – Kinsta is a great option.
