Twitter’s spending spree continued with its acqui-hire Wednesday of the team from full-service creative design agency Ueno.
Twitter chief design officer Dantley Davis said in a tweet, “@iamharaldur (founder and CEO Haraldur Thorleifsson) and his highly experienced and innovative team of designers, strategists and producers will join our design and research team, where they’ll help accelerate the quality and execution of Twitter’s product experiences. As an existing client of Ueno’s, we’ve seen firsthand how innovative and impactful they’ve been to our teams, so we’re looking forward to bringing them on and continuing our work together.”
Excited to share that today we’re welcoming the @uenodotco team to Twitter! ????????

The social network’s design and research teams and the agency previously worked together to help support and shape product visions, and Twitter said the Ueno team will join those two Twitter teams to help accelerate the quality and execution of its design and product experiences.
Ueno will wind down its agency and finish out existing projects for other clients in the coming weeks.
A Twitter spokesperson said, “We’re continuing to attract talent that will complement our teams and help accelerate our work to broaden the spectrums of conversations people can have on Twitter.”
On that note, the Ueno acqui-hire follows Twitter’s acquisition of podcast listening application Breaker earlier this week and last December’s acquisition of Squad, an app that enables users to share text, video and their screens.
Thorleifsson founded Ueno in his living room in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2014, and he has won multiple Webby Awards and designer of the year awards.
