With Instagram, corporations and creators can set age shops for every branded content material publish

Creators and business accounts on Instagram now have access to a new Audience Safety tool that allows them to set a minimum age for their branded content posts to appear in the feed.

Facebook's own photo and video sharing network started allowing these accounts to set up Age Gates directly through the Instagram application last December. However, with Monday's update they can decide whether to restrict each post instead of placing the Age Gate over the entire account.

Account holders can set a default minimum age, set a minimum age for specific countries, or a combination of both options.

Instagram has also reminded that any product or service advertised through its platform must adhere to the Restricted and Prohibited Content Guidelines, which require that content promoting offers such as alcohol or dating apps be targeted at people over a certain age may be restricted.

The company added that applicable laws and regulations that may impose age restrictions must also be complied with.
